What is
the LED Face Mask?
It is a
mask with a bank of 153 led lights. These shine directly on to the
face. The time and power are controlled by a small pcb box. Each
mask has two interchangeable covers to offer red light or blue light.
How Does
it work?
The skin
and other body tissues have the ability to absorb light and use it as a source
of energy to stimulate cellular regeneration. The light rays that are
emitted from the msk are the same light rays received from exposure to the sun
but with out the harmful radiation. Light Emitting Diodes (LEDS) give an
exact amount of red or blue light at the correct wave length and power to
acheive the desired result.
The use of strong coloured light to improve the quality and texture of skin is not new and there has been lots of research conducted all over the world from Nasa in the States to the Japan Photography Laboratory in Tokyo to support how effective it is.
Jo Martin, clinical director of Mapperley Park Clinic and an expert in light therapy and laser treatments, recently described the effects as follows 'Red light easily penetrates the dermis and can help with a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, scarring and eczema, as well as improving skin quality. The heat and light boost circulation, bringing more blood and nutrients to the area.
It also instigates the release of chemical messengers called cytokines. As more cytokines are released, collagen producing cells called fibroblasts leap into action. If healing is required, then the skin will heal; if it is already healthy, you will get a plumping effect from the extra collagen created.'

Why the
Red Light?
The red
lights have an anti aging effect.
Strong
red light is used to penetrate the skin to a depth where cellular regeneration
can begin. This means that the production of collagen and elastin in the
skin is stimulated. Collagen helps to plump up the skin, while elastin
helps firm the skin thus diminishing fine lines and wrinkles and giving
the complexion a more youthful appearance
